Matthew Friday - Teacher

MATTHEW FRIDAY,  was born in Pittsburgh, PA and attended Penn State University where he studied philosophy, international studies, and French.  Following graduation, he taught seventh grade English, eighth grade algebra 1, and eighth grade Latin for two years at the Nativity Preparatory School of New Bedford.  From there, he moved to Truro, MA where he worked as first mate on a sport fishing boat out of Wellfleet Harbor.  While in Truro, he allocated my time between three hobbies: reading, cooking, and surfing.  He then left the Cape to apprentice for a farmer in Cornish, ME.  His duties were to harvest the fall crop, tend to the farm animals, and sell the farm’s produce in the Portland Farmers Market.  In addition to surfing, cooking, and reading, Matthew loves to play tennis, squash, soccer, and croquet.  Matthew will be teaching 8th grade Reading and Language Arts and 6th grade Social Studies this year. He looks forward to exploring Hartford, and getting back into fly fishing in the surrounding countryside.
