Kyle was involved in numerous youth and adolescent programs while at Connecticut. His time with the Mansfield Youth Services Big Friends program as well as the Jumpstart for Young Children program were the high points of his college career. During his senior year, Kyle was looking for a chance to help level the playing field in education among urban youths. </span><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Perpetua;">After coming across the Covenant Prep website, he went for a visit and fell in love with the atmosphere of the school and the level of commitment that everyone shows, including the students. In his first year, Kyle will be teaching 5th grade Math, as well as 6th and 8th grade Social Studies. He will also lead the Chess Team. While attending Whitesboro Public High School, he played football, hockey and lacrosse, and helped organize several fundraising events for the American Cancer Society. At Williams, he was, at various times, a member of the varsity football team, a radio show host, an economics tutor, and a volunteer for a non-profit organization working on economic development in Malawi. He spent a semester of his junior year in Scotland, and elsewhere in Europe, where he developed an interest in political philosophy and development economics.</span></p><p style="" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Perpetua;"> </span></p><p style=""><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Perpetua;">Patrick sees teaching as a moral imperative, deriving from his feeling that he has benefited greatly from his own education and would like to give back in a direct manner. The experience motivated him to do a year of service before moving on to Engineering school.  He was deeply impressed with Covenant Prep’s mission and operating principles when he visited the school, and he knew right away that he wanted to spend his gap year being part of the Covenant Prep community. Katie has long had an interest in education and service. After a great two years teaching, Katie returns to Covenant Prep for a third year to take on a new role of directing our Graduate Support Program as well as working with student admissions. At Holy Cross, Brigid was involved with various tutoring programs throughout Worcester, including tutoring African refugees living in the city. In addition, Brigid spent her junior year of college abroad in Cork City, Ireland where she was able to reconnect with her Irish relatives and continue her studies in Art History. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Perpetua;">Brigid heard about Covenant Prep through Meara Weaver, who was her Spring Break Immersion Program student leader in Spring 2008. Upon applying to the program and visiting the school, Brigid realized that working at Covenant Prep would be a great way for her to give back to the community by providing these young men with an enriching education. Brigid will be returning to Covenant Prep for a second year to teach 6th grade Reading and Language Arts, as well as 5th grade Social Studies. At HYSF, he worked with middle school students through a 14-26 month, rigorous academic program that prepared them for acceptance and success at independent high schools throughout New England. </span><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Perpetua;">Prior to HYSF, Marvin worked for New Community for Children in Washington, D.C. as the Executive Director for 4 years. Before that, he worked with the Coaching for College Program and Kids Computer Workshop in a series of administrative roles. Prior to working in Washington, Marvin worked in Boston for the National Coalition of Advocates for Students, a policy, research, and advocacy group for minority youth. Marvin’s first job out of college was Director of Planning and Development at YouthBuild Boston. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Perpetua;">Marvin graduated from Harvard College in 1995 with Bachelors degree in Government. In college, Marvin named a Stride Rite Fellow to mark his commitment to public service.
