5th Grade Teacher

The Opportunity

Covenant Preparatory School’s 5th Grade Teacher facilitates the classroom and curricular components of the school’s reinvigorated 5th grade program. Getting our students off to the strongest possible start, the 5th Grade Teacher serves a truly invaluable role in the life of our school.

Covenant Prep teachers play a major role in all aspects of school life. In addition to teaching responsibilities, all teachers participate in the school’s advisory, athletics/activities, and service programs. Teachers at Covenant Prep are supported by AmeriCorps teaching fellows, as well as teaching mentors and the school’s administration.

Details

  • A firm commitment to the Covenant Preparatory School mission

  • A bachelor’s degree in elementary education, or another related field (master’s preferred)

  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience

  • A willingness to contribute to all aspects of school life including athletics, advisory, and other school-related commitments

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred, not required)

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilites

  • Teach ELA, social studies, math, and science to a class of no more than fifteen 5th grade students

  • Serve as an advisor to small group of students

  • Supervise school-day activities

  • Supervise/lead/coach afternoon activities from 3:30-5 p.m. (Monday-Thursday)

  • Coordinate other school programs as assigned by the principal

  • Participate in Summer Academy

  • Other duties as assigned
