Social Studies Teacher

 

The Opportunity

Covenant Preparatory School’s Social Studies (SS) Teacher facilitates the classroom and curricular components of the school’s history program. As a member of the NativityMiguel Coalition, Covenant Prep is on an extended day program, running from approximately 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM and includes Summer Academy for the month of July.

 

Candidates should be mission driven with a  firm commitment to social justice. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate generosity of spirit, an exceptional work ethic, flexibility, and a willingness to consistently learn.

 

Responsibilities

  • Teach Social Studies classes and lab periods to grades of no more than fifteen students;

  • Be families’ first point of contact as the advisor to a small group of students;

  • Coach or run clubs and/or after school activities;

  • Supervise students throughout the school day on a faculty rotation;

  • Obtain proper endorsement to transport students in school vehicles and/or chaperone off-campus events;

  • Participate in Summer Academy (usually the month of July);

  • Other assigned duties, as needed, during the regular school year and Summer Academy (some of which may happen outside of the typical schedule). 

 

Qualifications​

  • A firm commitment to the Covenant Preparatory School mission

  • Experience working with youth; middle school grades preferred.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a humanities related field

  • A willingness to contribute to all aspects of school life including athletics, advisory, and other school-related commitments

 

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include school-provided health, vision, life, and dental insurance, if needed.
